Handshake
Handshake is Mercer’s one-stop career development platform that connects students and alumni with employers as well as the Mercer Center for Career and Professional Development.
Handshake is a job search platform designed to connect college students and recent graduates with employment opportunities. It serves as a bridge between students and employers, allowing companies to recruit talented individuals for internships, part-time jobs, and full-time positions.
Handshake focuses on facilitating personalized matches based on students’ interests, skills, and career goals, offering a streamlined and user-friendly interface. It also provides access to career resources, such as job fairs, networking events, and career advice, to enhance the overall job search experience for users.

- Schedule phone, virtual, or face-to-face appointments with your MU career consultant
How to access Handshake
The university automatically creates a Handshake account for all enrolled students. To get started with Handshake (on or after the first day of class):
- Log in to Handshake using your Mercer username and password
- Complete your profile and review your account settings
- Consider setting the profile visibility to allow students, alumni, and employers to find and connect with you
Graduates Since July 2017
Recent graduates who graduated since to July 2017 already have a Handshake account. To access your account, simply follow the instructions above.
Graduates Before July 2017
Graduates who graduated before July 2017 who have never requested a Handshake Account must use the following steps to request one.
- Visit https://mercer.joinhandshake.com
- Click “Login to Handshake now!”
- In the top right hand corner, click the “No Account? Sign up here” option
- Click the Student/Alumni button
- Fill in the requested information (Please note that Alumni may utilize their personal email address to request an account)
- Click “Create Account”
Allow 1-3 business days to have new accounts processed and approved. Handshake will send an email confirming the approval of the new account. Begin using Handshake immediately upon receiving account approval.
